My ankle has been feeling better, so I took up running during the week days (well, some of them, at least) with new Casey. He has an iPhone and he downloaded software to track how far we run and how fast (or slow) we run, too. We've been going 4-5 miles a few times a week for the last few weeks. Unfortunately, we'd been running slow (generally around 9 minutes per mile).
Today, we decided to go for a short run (just under 3.5 miles round trip - his phone said 3.45 when we got back to Carson) because I had to meet Jenn to get Andrew to pass him off to mom. Anyway, we took off at a relatively brisk pace (8:10 for mile 1) and decided to try to keep it up. Keep it up we did. When Casey finished, his phone said we averaged a pace of one mile every 8:04. I beat Casey by a little bit (20 seconds or so). Plus, we had to wait at Main Street for all the people who don't stop for people in cross walks!
It was nice to let loose a little on the run, although it was definitely more difficult than just plodding away.
