RIP Hootsie 2009 - 2025
Hootsie passed away about 9:40 am yesterday. We had a vet come to the house for euthanasia due to progressing liver failure. He had not eaten for some days but he gathered his resources for one last morning walk. He was a little wobbly and maybe slightly disoriented towards the end but here, as we started out, he is walking purposefully to check out our neighbor Loretta's back yard, one of his favorite hangouts. We are so very grateful for his life and that he chose us as his people.

What a beautiful last walk. Hootsie chose well and wisely.
He will be missed. Glad you got sixteen years with him.
I still remember the cold, windy winter night that you found Hootsie in the bush by the hospital, and the visit to the vet/animal shelter the next day when it became apparent that he was going to become part of the family.
Yes, Hootsie appearing from the bushes and climbing up my big puffy coat into my arms is a very fond memory.
