Happy Birthday to Roy!!

Roy Wesley Tromble - Wikipedia entry:

About 30 years ago (OK, I'm rushing things) -- 27 years ago to be exact, the world's foremost computational linguist was born. Roy Wesley Tromble was named after his grandfather, Roy W. Tromble. Apparently, Roy's great grandparents didn't know any names that started with W, so they just used an initial for their son. At any rate, Roy's destiny in life was to make amends for his ancestors by applying the power of computational techniques to an understanding of language, so that no child, ever again, would have a simple initial for a name.

How about we have a "Best Wikipedia Entry" for Roy contest?

Love to Roy and best wishes for many more happy birthdays,

Dad
(who is beginning to feel REAL old)

A miraculous turning point occured in Roy's life at the age of 27. Not long before his birthday, he had been traumatized by a hit-and-run perpetrated on a squirrel while he was biking to work. Roy never knew if the squirrel sustained serious injuries or not. Shortly thereafter Roy's bicycle was stolen making him have to walk to work. One day in the winter after his 27th birthday, as Roy was walking to work, wrapped up in thoughts of his next computational linguistics conference, he was surprised by a squirrel in the path. This frightened and startled him as he thought it was perhaps the injured squirrel back for revenge. Roy jumped, dashed off the sidewalk not looking where he was going and ran smack dab into a big tree trunk. He knocked himself out and collapsed on the ground. When he came to a few minutes later, he had quite a headache, but he also had a bright idea for how to solve one of the most difficult problems in computational linguistics history! Now you know why your translating software is also known as the Roy-o-meter!

Roy - former vegetarian whose cooking repertoire once included box couscous with melted Tillamook cheese on top, has of late become quite a gourmet chef whose palette includes lamb chops with parsnips, sweet potato pork parsnip stew, Greek lamb stew, Cuban ropa vieja, homemade brown bread, Thai cucumber salad, and honeydew-raspberry balsamic ice cream. How does he do it? First, Nicole picks through recipes that sound yummy. Second, together they venture to the grocery store to stock up. Third, Roy carefully measures all ingredients and places them in any one of the couple's many bowls. Fourth, Roy follows the recipe with precision, commenting on how Nicole doesn't read all the work that is required to make such a meal only goes with a nice sounding title or favorite ingredients. Fifth, Roy yells at Nicole from kitchen to office that dinner is ready. Sixth, Roy watches any game on TV while Nicole slaves cleaning up Roy's mess in the kitchen. Seventh, Nicole and Roy watch a movie that arrives via Netflix. Eighth, they go to bed for the night with happy full stomaches. Good-bye cheesey couscous.

You left something out. Full stomachs in bed are a surefire recipe for expanding wastelines.

That doesn't seem to be a problem for either of them, from what I hear. The exact opposite is apparently taking place!
