Wall Paper

I hate wall paper. However, I am getting more and more experience with removing it and figuring out what does, and does not, work. The best practice for the stuff in our entry, and probably any well-stuck, glossy paper, was sanding it with a coarse sand paper and then spraying it with water to get the glue to come up. The outer layer wouldn't let water in, so, without the sanding, it was awful.

Finally, today, we got the entry way clear of almost all the wall paper. The area will now be prepped for painting: removing the remaining glue/backing, cleaning the dry wall, and then plastering to provide texture to "match" the rest of the house. So, now we're down to just the plant stuff under the chair rail in the formal dining room.
