I missed the big storm that dumped about two feet of snow on the Pittsburgh area over the weekend. It started Friday morning, and continued until sometime mid-day Saturday. I was in Mountain View for the Product Search summit and was scheduled to fly back Saturday, leaving San Francisco at noon and arriving late Saturday night.
Despite many cancellations in the flight schedule, my U.S. Airways connection out of Phoenix was on time and planning to land in Pittsburgh. We ended up departing a little late because of lavatory malfunctions, but depart we did.
When I got to Pittsburgh, I had to take a taxi home, because Nicole was snowed in on Hampton St. Word was that Westmoreland was plowed, but they hadn't come up our street. That turned out to be true, as I discovered when the taxi dropped me off at Westmoreland and Hampton around 12:30 am.
I've been working from home this week, as advised by the Google Pittsburgh director, to avoid contributing to the already massive traffic problems. Yesterday, it started snowing again, and it's still coming down. I just finished shoveling outside. I took this picture after finishing the back walk.

"Part II" confused me and I spent some time searching the blog for a "Part I" post that I might have missed. It doesn't exist. Now I understand that "Part II" is following the media's appellation, indicating the second wave of blizzard. Well, enjoy. Looks pretty!
How far did you have to walk through snowdrifts to get home? I guess I could use Google maps to answer my own question...anyway, hope working at home is going well. We really enjoyed your visit.
