No, dad ... they just poured the sidewalk. Unfortunately, they didn't realize that the impending rain would cause water to run that way. They didn't do a good job of compacting the soil and preventing erosion. Voila! Erosion central. The entire sub-structure for that approximately 10 feet of sidewalk washed away ... onto the road, as you can see.

We drove by today. Not surprisingly, it has started to buckle (the middle cracked, and it is starting to sag). Concrete isn't very good in tension!
So, what were they thinking? Was this a temporary walkway to get over the mud?
