Beach Babe

Maëva went to the sea for the first time on Saturday for a brief swim with her French grandparents and Sylvain while I watched from the beach. We only stayed about thirty minutes before it was time to come home for lunch.

Yesterday, however, was a different story. It was a swim day "extraordinaire" starting out with the first baby swimmers class of the new activity year. Then, against our better judgment, we headed out after Maëva's lunch to join some friends at a sandy beach in Les Lecques (a little ways past La Ciotat along the coast). After looking for parking for more than thirty minutes and getting increasingly frustrated, we were about ready to take off and drive back home when we called our friends who were able to give us a parking tip. We finally parked and joined the group of beach goers for a horrible extremely over-priced beach café lunch before finally heading down to the water's edge where things started looking up. The sun was out and Maëva had a blast playing in the sand, in the water, swimming with Sylvain, climbing on the beach chairs and tables. It was so much fun, she didn't even need a nap! But when we left about five-thirty to head home, she pretty much zonked out as soon as her little body hit the car seat. All in all, a fun afternoon, though next time we go to the beach, we won't let our friends choose the arrangements.
