We got some new (to us) stone fruit hybrids at the farmer's market this week, instead of the usual peaches, and the apricots that seem to have passed out of season.
Why did I not know about these before? They are fantastically delicious. Both varieties are sweeter than you'd expect, and the apriums are a bit juicier than apricots. The plum flavor in each is detectable, but each more strongly resembles the nectarine or apricot that starts its name.
Highly recommended.

I've never heard of them, either.
They have all sorts of weird things in the emerald city.
