Eric's birthday weekend

We went camping at Dosewallips State Park, on the Olympic Peninsula side of Hood Canal. We left Seattle a little before 11 a.m. on Friday (it was a school in-service day), and arrived at the campground Friday afternoon. We spent all Saturday in the park, braving the wind to walk out to the beach and through the forest. Sunday morning we packed up and drove home, catching the 12:20 p.m. ferry from Bainbridge Island.

Our accommodations were a platform tent, containing a bunk bed and a futon, with heat. It was still cold in among the trees, though it was pretty warm on Saturday out in the sun.

Looks like a "taste of Alaska" adventure!

I realized Eric was wearing his helmet a lot. Any reason, or does he just like it?

In the beach photo, he's wearing it because he had been riding his bike to get to the beach. Not sure about the photos sitting in the chairs around the campfire. He may have left it on after biking, or we left it on to keep him warm. It's a bike/ski combo, and we left the ear covers on his, since we only got it recently, after warm summer weather was over.
