Martes

We spent all day Tuesday at the Museo Papalote, a children's museum that came highly recommended by one of the kids’ Spanish teachers. It surpassed our expectations, despite the hype.

It was large, with multiple floors and outdoor space. There were lots of interactive video screens, but also many exhibits staffed by friendly people. After lunch, the kids made paper kites and flew them in the courtyard, then paper rockets to launch with compressed air. We considered leaving after lunch, but were glad we decided to go back in, or we'd have missed entire sections. We stayed until closing.

Unfortunately, that meant trying to commute home during rush hour. We watched five trains go by without enough room for all of us, even after we tried to spread out. Eventually, we headed the other way, which was slightly less crowded, to transfer by a longer route. But, daunted by the crowd headed up the stairs at the next station, we went outside to look for dinner instead. That failed, but killed enough time to make room on the trains. We had dinner at the same taquería as Saturday night.

We also had some transit adventures in the morning, standing in line through several buses, and then missing our stop and having to walk back a mile or more. Still, we'll probably remember this as a pretty good day.
