Because everyone might not be on the family call this morning, I'll announce the how many chicks contest results here. First I'll bring you up to speed on the total chick picture.
The gray hen hatched two chicks between 6/4 and 6/6. She started leaving the nest to take care of the increasingly mobile chicks on 6/7, and I moved the remaining 15 eggs into the incubator, with little hope of any hatching. But 1 hatched the morning of 6/10, and a second that night. We moved these two out of the incubator on Tuesday afternoon.
Four more chicks hatched on Tuesday (6/11) - morning through the night. After a couple of days we moved those into the bin with the first two.
That was the end of action for several days, but yesterday I noticed that one more egg had a pip (small hole/crack in it, and that chick hatched sometime between 1:30 and 5:00 am this morning. [Yet another chick appeared unexpectedly while I was on the family call!]
So from the total of 17 eggs that the gray hen assembled to brood (most of them not actually her eggs), we have 10 chicks of various ages.
OK, on to the contest results. The contest was to guess how many chicks were in the incubator as of 5:30 am on Wednesday, 6/12. The correct answer was 4, and Meredith was the person with the correct guess.

There were originally 17 eggs. Two hatched under the hen. You moved 15 to the incubator. Two hatched and were moved out. One more hatched and stayed in the incubator. That would seem to leave 12 unhatched, but your How Many Chicks? post said there were 11.
That would seem to invalidate the contest results. Just kidding. But I realized my reading was even less careful than I thought yesterday, because I had interpreted the 11 as the total number of eggs that had gone into the incubator to begin with.
Yes, the 11 vs 12 seems to be a discrepancy in my math.
