About 2 weeks ago, my dog Scout starts not being able to use his back legs very well. We take him to the emergency vet and they say it is probably some autoimmune disease that causes nerve signals to not travel as well to the hind legs and mouth, and he gets tired very easily. Humans gets this disease, as well.
We get him on meds of what the vet thinks it is and they help and he is probably like 60-70%. Fast forward to today and my stepdad J texts us to try to get him to eat and go outside (sometimes when he feels good he will get tired because he runs around and plays too much) because he was tired this morning. Also, he hadn't had pills and maybe they would've kicked in. So, he just lays in the grass outside and doesn't eat his food, but we're like, okay, he is probably just tired. I get home from school and Andrew has taken him out and he just lays in the grass, and I try to give him food and he won't eat. He is breathing weirdly, so I try to get him to drink some water, and he drinks a little, but is still breathing weirdly and we make the decision that he is suffering and we all love him too much to let him suffer, so J takes him to the vet to get put down.

So sorry to hear about Scout, Lucas. You took good care of him and did the right thing to help end his suffering. I'm sure he is grateful for that.
I am sorry Lucas. Tanya is right, you guys showed him how much you loved him in letting him go even though it hurt you so much to do so.

You really don't know how much you love something tell it is gone.
I just learned that the test results from 2 weeks ago said that he had like 18 times the amount of the disease that is survivable I think. On the scale of the disease he had 11 out of .6 .
Oh, Lucas. Do you feel like telling us a little more about Scout? Did he have a favorite treat or way to play? He sounds like a wonderful dog.
He didn't really have a favorite treat he just like every treat. He would want you to throw a ball but instead of bringing it back he would want to play chase with you.
Scout was a very energetic, people-loving dog. He was a little bit of a bull in a china shop at times, but it was just because he was so excited to see everyone.
Ya his favorite thing to do when you were on the couch was to lay on your lap because of course he is a " lap dog " and lick your face.
He sounds like a fun companion. He was lucky to spend his short life with loving boys.
