Two words: total loss.
Apparently, with all the body damage, airbag deployment, and possible frame and engine (the guy mentioned a cracked engine block) damage, there was no saving Sandy, at least not for fixing up. There are still some quality parts on board. So, the fixing of the previous vehicle option is now no longer an option, at least not for me.

Yep, fine ... but dealing with stupid insurance people is a little annoying.
Are they giving you what is needed to actually replace the car? I hope you can get something you like as well as the Explorer...
