Shim Shimminy

Because there was such an overwhelming response to my latest pictures, I've decided to post more about the deck project! Today, I added shims between the beams and some of the joists to fill in the gaps between the beams and joists. Despite having the deck quite level, there were gaps because the wood isn't a perfect material.

In less exciting news, we applied water sealer to the joists and beams.

Adam is scheduled to come help me tomorrow. The plan is to install the header, start laying the decking and possibly work on the railing. We shall see how long things take. It would be nice to get everything finished off tomorrow, but I really don't see that happening.
