Animae Convention

The Cheesecake Factory in Seattle is right across the street from a convention center. So, we got to see people dressed up as their favorite animae characters. Kids with tails, people with strange outfits (some of whom might not have been part of the convention), and all sorts of other things. This was not the highlight of the trip ... of course, neither was the turbulence in Denver on the way back.

We went with Snickers and Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookie Dough as the cheesecake choices ... both were good.

What's "animae"?

"Anime" are Japanese comics like Astro Boy and Sailor Moon...and lots more, I can't remember the names of the really famous ones that are more recent -- "Totoro" is a movie length one that's great -- Rowyn was really into them and a few of my students at SFAI also. One of them went to an anime conference earlier this year and felt out of it because he only took one costume and lots of people there had a different costume for every day of the event. Lots of big eyes...here's a Wikipedia link that looks more informative: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anime
