This evening, I ran into my colleague, Cécile, who is the one who headed up our local organizing committee for the annual French American Studies Association conference which we hosted on our campus last week. She thanked me for my help and said my calming presence and rational thinking were very helpful over the course of the week. I'm not sure how rational I really was towards the end of the week, after getting up at 5:30am four days in a row, but I know when to take a compliment!
