Inter-wrist-ing Morning

Monday morning, I took Maëva to the hospital for an x-ray and a follow-up appointment with an orthopedic surgeon. Dr. Inès Guerzider was very nice, efficient and professional once we finally got in to see her, an hour after our scheduled appointment. She said Maëva had a "good" break that should heal nicely, not require physical therapy and not cause any future problems. She showed Maëva the break on her x-rays and on an arm skeleton and answered her question about why the cast kept her wrist in a curved position (the best for consolidation of her specific break). She took off Maëva's huge plaster cast and replaced it with a smaller and lighter resin one. Maëva's elbow is now free again, making it much easier to get dressed and carry her backpack, among other things.

Maëva should get her cast off January 15th. However, she was upset to learn that even afterwards, she'll have to wait two more months before resuming her athletic activities. She was encouraged to keep playing the piano, though, even with her cast on.
