The girls were mostly feeling better Friday morning. Laureva complained of tummy pain off and on all day. I think she has sore muscles from all the wretching the day before . . .
The girls opened their stockings and we exchanged our gifts.
Dämek is a new game invented by my hairdresser's husband. It's a sort of mixture of chess and checkers. You play on a chess board turned on the diagonal. Each player has nine unmarked pieces and one marked spy piece. No piece has a pre-determined way to move. You roll a die that has a chess piece on each face: king, queen, rook, pawn, bishop and knight. When you roll, you may choose any of your pieces and move it as the chess piece you rolled would move. The goal is to capture the other player's spy. If you capture a piece with your spy, you get a piece of yours returned and may place it wherever you want. It is much faster paced than chess and the randomness added to the game by the roll of the die makes adds fun and craziness to the mix!

You also need to adapt a die with chess pieces designated for each side. Or assign a number to each of the six different chess pieces . . .
