Grandma's Visit: Day 3

Wednesday, the 22nd. Wake up at less than desirable hour. Both girls in bed with me at 6. Tried not very successfully to sleep until 7. Breakfast of Minnie Mouse French Toast aided in the kitchen by sous chef Maëva. She did a great job stirring and using the cutter. We headed out about ten to pick up Maëva's new orthotics before going to Silvain in Aubagne for tea. The tea, cookies, tart, almonds and juice were delicious as always, but Laureva was very fussy, so the experience was less than optimal. Maëva remembered to pick out a bottle of strawberry juice to bring home for a treat for her dad. Back home at 12:30, I realized they had overcharged me by 14€. I called the store. No problem, but we would have to go back by. We headed next door for lunch with Marie-Elisabeth and David of fresh tuna caught by a friend of Maëva's godfather, rice and eggplant. Then it was naptime for the girls and English lesson time for me. I was trying to review how to tell time in English with my eighth grade student. It didn't go so well. I'm not convinced she knows how to tell time in French ... The girls were up shortly after four. Maëva stayed home with Sylvain. Mom, Laureva and I headed back to Aubagne. We picked up the reimbursement from the tea room, then went to another bakery to spend it on a raspberry tart. Mom remembered them from her last trip and was looking forward to trying them again. Back home again, we made footprint butterflies with both girls' feet. Maëva chose the colors: purple and orange for her, yellow and red for Laureva. Maëva finger-painted a bit (a masterpiece for me, one for Sylvain, then we were out of paper so none for grandma yet), then both girls went straight to the tub. After bath, Maëva asked her grandma to put up the girls' new foam glitter name letters on the walls of the new bedroom. Check. After dinner, I heard Maëva playing Kindle games with Mom. Another mostly enjoyable day. Oh, and Mom gave Maëva "a book about Mom's dress" (Beauty and the Beast so she would know the story of my Belle princess dress that she wants me to wear for Halloween) and ended up reading it to her twice, once this morning and once this evening. No doubt we will soon know it by heart! The adults had raspberry tart for dessert and watched three episodes of Two And A Half Men after the kiddos were in bed. We weren't being greedy or sneaky: Maëva doesn't like raspberries.
