Two thumbs up

Rachel had an Advanced Learning eligibility assessment this morning. I drove her to the Seattle Public Schools John Stanford Center for Educational Excellence, just south of the stadiums, near the Starbucks headquarters, for an eight o'clock appointment. There were six other first graders there, all from John Hay, I think, and a group of kindergartners, as well. The first graders all went off together with one assessor, and came back two hours later, right around ten.

Rachel claims to have had fun. She gave us a limited description of the Cognitive Abilities Test, including that she had to fill in little circles that a computer was going to grade. She thought she answered most of the questions correctly, but said some were tricky. She also claimed to be the only one of the students who gave the experience two thumbs up at the end.

We're not entirely sure yet what the Advanced Learning program entails. We will hear something about the results of the test at the end of the month.
