Today, I ran while the boys rode. We ventured across Highway 89 for a 4+ mi loop: down Harvey, south on mountain, across the overpass, down to Cherry Hill, north on Main St, east up Nicholls passed Nicholls Park and across Highway 89, up to mountain, down to Harvey, back up Harvey to the house.
Andrew did the entire thing without any help. Lucas needed a couple assists, notably on the last part of Nicholls. But, he only has 1 gear. And, some adults on road bikes have been known to struggle on that climb, as well.
Before long, I'll be able to ride too.

You can all three push me up the hill when I come!
Great job! That is a big adventure for the boys! And Lucas still has small wheels too. Proud grandma!
Lucas has an 18-inch bike at our house. The wheels aren't that small, and he can really get going on flat areas.
Why can't you ride, too? Is it because the boys don't go fast enough yet?
I have to help Lucas up the hills.
Plus, I can run alongside Lucas, whereas it would be more difficult to ride next to him.
