Colin's report card

Colin's teacher had this to say about him:

Colin knows 26/26 uppercase letters, 26/26 lowercase letters, and 26/26 letter sounds. Colin is reading at approximately level 5a on the Quick Phonics Screener which includes fluently reading silent E word (ex: rope, snake). Colin has met and exceeded the end of the year reading expectation. Colin can read 40 sight words and can count to 100. The end of the year expectation is to read 40 sight words and to count to 100. Colin's observed strengths are developing friendships in our classroom community, displaying confidence in his abilities, and exhibiting strong addition and subtraction skills. Colin's recommended goals are as follows: fluently decoding words that contain vowel pairs and the silent E and writing interesting stories detailed with a beginning, middle, and end. I love being Colin's teacher. His smile lights up the classroom!
Not bad for a guy who didn't seem to want to read at all when Kindergarten began.
