G.E.E.L.

The girls have decided we should have a new family tradition: the Giraud Easter Eve Lunch. Every year on the Saturday before Easter, they will prepare lunch for the family. This morning, Maëva got out her Williams Sonoma Cookbook for Kids and planned the menu. Then she made a shopping list. After breakfast and delivery of our new fridge (The fridge in the veranda has been on the fritz for about two years making it hard to use that space for parties. Marie-Elisabeth gave us money for our birthdays to get a new fridge. Our old one will replace the broken one in the veranda. The new fridge is slightly bigger and most important of all for me, it's no frost!), the girls and I went grocery shopping. At the grocery store, we ran into Maëva's 1st grade teacher. Then, the cashier wanted to ask me some English grammar questions because she's studying to take her Bac this year. Happy to. Then she told us it was her birthday. Happy Birthday! Back home about 10, we got straight to work unpacking groceries and preparing food. Lunch was finally ready at 12:30. Perfect timing.
The first annual GEEL was a big success. On the menu:
Entrée: choice of tabbouli or plain couscous grain with olive oil
Main course: sandwich "sushi" and/or biscuit-wrapped hot dogs
Dessert: vanilla Easter cupcakes, ultra-chocolatey brownies and/or fruit salad (apple, strawberry, kiwi)
