As long as I don't think about all the stuff I have to do that isn't done things are going well!

Anwyl played a gig with some old bandmates at a brewery in the South Bay last night. I enjoyed it greatly - thought they played well and I even got to dance some despite my life's partner being occupied with the electric bass. Some friends of another band member were feeling similarly moved so we introduced ourselves and goofed around on the dance floor together.

My stepdaughter Esther started a class in silkscreen today at SFAI (San Francisco Art Institute - my favorite school to teach at). She had signed up for an art class at her high school but they wouldn't let her take it supposedly due to budget cuts. They also didn't give her biology -- meaning that out of 7 possible classes they gave her a schedule with 5! I couldn't believe it. The theory seemed to be that since she'd been taking full loads and doing well in all her classes she was going to have enough credits to graduate. Sheesh. Anyway, loud complaining got her into a biotech class -- not the advanced biology class she wanted -- and SFAI gave us a faculty discount on the silkscreen course. As far as art goes this development may be a blessing -- it plops her in the middle of SFAI which is an exciting environment with a lot going on.

I'm heading to D.C. area around the beginning of November for a conference -- planning to stay with Galen and Pam Saturday and Sunday night November 6 and 7 (this is the first they've heard any specific date so I hope it's okay!) and then take a shuttle to NY for Monday and fly home from there. The NY side trip is because I am now "contributing art editor" for a new publication called "Breathe" coming out of NY and it would be good to meet the magazine folks in person. So now off I go to write the next article for them.
