Sunday, we went to Wal*mart. We had a short list of things to get. We grabbed some carrots, bananas, sweet potatoes, and tomatoes. We threw some soda into the cart and stocked up on baby food for Andrew. On the way over to the dog supplies, we snagged a present for Rachel's upcoming b-day. That wasn't on the list, but an opportunity presented itself.
While we were at the back of the store in the baby/soda area, the lights flickered. We didn't think much of it, other than that it was weird that the lights would flicker. We proceeded with shopping as usual.
Then, when we were ready to check out, we realized that there were a lot of people checking out compared to the number of lanes open. We picked a lane ... and we didn't pick very well. The lady working the register was really slow. While we were standing in line, we started hearing rumblings. The power had gone out ... I think unexpectedly. They were on generator power ... and things were going downhill. Soon, registers began to fail. The conveyor belt at our station wasn't working. Not a big deal. But, then, the registers began to fail. That IS a big deal. The lady in front of us got out with all but three of her desired items. We had to leave everything and exit the store ... the lights were about to go out.
So, we only got one thing from our 45 minute Wal*mart trip ... and, no, it wasn't chili powder ... we got annoyed!
I went to the Wal*mart on the east side of Norman on Monday to pick up some necessities (the incident happened at the west side store). Fortunately, the power didn't go out.

Chili powder doesn't come from Walmart! I'm a much more high class shoplifter.
They have nice chili powder at Wal*mart, too.
