Left home at 7:30 am in Frédérique's red "airport taxi" van. Finally arrived at Dad's eighteen hours later. Girls immediately went to look for a startled Lil Boose. Laureva had been looking forward to seeing her all day!
10:30 flight to Paris. Air France even volunteered to check our two cabin bags all the way through. Score. 1:15pm flight to IAD. An hour late leaving due to some obscure catering loading problems. Girls excited about their personal screens on the plane. Maëva came up with a plan to keep a close eye on Grandpa and not let him cook alone so that he won't sneak zucchini into anything as he's been threatening. Both girls fell asleep pretty much right at their normal home bedtime and slept the final hour and a half of the flight.
Horrendous wait at customs in DC. 1 hour 15 minutes! Argh. Finally made it out to find Dad at 6:15pm.
Back on Edgevale Road, the girls helped Grandpa top pizza for dinner. Just cheese, no tomato sauce. Girls say they liked it better than our pizza with tomato sauce. Grandpa started telling stories about Lil Boose being naughty. They end with the chorus of: Grandpa "And when we asked her why she did that, she said" and Laureva "C'est ce que je fais."
After dinner, sourdough making session. Then story time: The Wizard of Oz and Sylvester and the Magic Pebble (which Maëva remembered from 3 years ago!). Then bedtime for tired travelers!

No tomato sauce! Boo!
Those grandpas do need someone to keep a close eye one them.
Is that Sylvester the Looney Tunes cat? Don't know that one.
No, just a boy named Sylvester.
