Thursday, August 1st. Happy Birthday to Anwyl!
Sourdough pancakes with chocolate syrup and/or blueberry pancakes with maple syrup. Dad got blue fingers. Finished packing while Sylvain took some photos of Dad, Pam and the girls.
8:30 departure from Edgevale Road. Dad drove us to the Hertz car rental office at the DC Hilton on T street. About 9:45, we drove off in our white Ford hybrid with FL plates on our 9+-hour drive to Chattanooga.
Late lunch at a McDonald's a little before Roanoke VA. 4:50 pm, crossed border into TN. 5:30, break for Hershey's ice cream and gas. Sylvain and I had cappuccino ice cream with pecans and chocolate swirl. Very yummy! Deer sighting going past Knoxville TN. Rainbow over Athens TN.
9pm, warm welcome at Guillaume's Aunt Tricia's house in Signal Mountain TN. Humungous beautiful two story house with five bedrooms upstairs and a five-car garage. Unfortunately, Laureva couldn't find her doudou pillow. Calls to two places we stopped along the way unanswered. Tricia offered to let the girls each pick something from a bag of kid stuffies from her grandkids. We'll try to call again in the morning, but pillow is probably gone. Domino's Pizza and red wine dinner. Late to bed for girls at past 10pm!

Didn't know Chattanooga was on your itinerary. We drove past there a couple times between Baltimore and Mississippi/New Orleans, but never stopped.
Sorry to hear about Laureva's doudou. Losing things during travel is never fun.
Maybe Grandma and Maeva can make her a new doudou.
I suggested that ... maybe you'll be more convincing ...
