Twelve years old

Lydia gave me a waffle iron for Christmas, so I asked if she wanted waffles for breakfast today, and she agreed. However, I couldn't use the gift iron because it was cast aluminum, and incompatible with our induction cooktop. I used just the one we already had, which is slow going.

The contractor returned today to work on making the door between the girls' rooms into a wall. So one thing Lydia got for her birthday is displaced. I moved her bed back into the boys' room. This time, at least, it's not just the mattress.

Lydia spent most of the day playing Zelda on the Switch. Dad and Pam arrived in the afternoon, while Colin was at a birthday party for a friend. Nicole ordered pupusas for dinner and Paola and family came over to help us celebrate. Lydia got several books as gifts, a couple shirts, and an air plant from Flavia.

Lydia does not like having her picture taken, but she ultimately submitted to this, without agreeing to smile.

Lydia does like learning things, making music (I think), playing video games, and making us wait "one sec". One time I measured her second, and it was more than forty minutes.

She remains vegetarian. She chose pupusas for her birthday dinner, and also likes the "loaded potato" pizza from Ian's. I think she likes mushrooms.

The girls were excited to learn that Lydia also plays Zelda.
What is an air plant?

Genus Tillandsia, in the bromeliad family. It doesn't need soil, we're just supposed to put it in water for twenty minutes each week.

Ah, thanks. Are those similar to orchids, then?

Maybe similar to orchids in that some of them are epiphytes. But it doesn't resemble an orchid in appearance. I'll post a photo later.

Looking forward to it.
