Full circle

Tuesday was π Day. I wore my π shirt. There was a Pi/Pie celebration at the middle school, so we attended with Lydia. Some of her friends participated in the pie-eating contest and the π recitation contest, but Lydia just observed and talked to other friends.

Afterwards, we got a late dinner from a taqueria nearby, then went to pick up Rachel and her friend from lacrosse practice. They had finished practice with a scrimmage against a team of eighth graders. Rachel played defense, but said she didn't have much to do.

So it was a bit of a late night for us, but it seems like that's to be expected in the first week of daylight saving. Have you noticed that the onset of DST is much closer to the vernal equinox than the return to standard time is to the autumnal equinox? I asked the Internet what's up with that, and it suggested the equation of time is once again to blame, but I haven't confirmed.

In car news today, it seems likely the Pathfinder will be auctioned for parts. We may donate it. Meanwhile, the XC90, which needs a catchier name, will be ready to pick up tomorrow. The plan is for me to take the bus up to Lynnwood to get it, because both of us driving there won't fit in the schedule.
