The AP poll is a complete joke; it just came out a few weeks ago that most voters don't even watch the games and the voters just jumped Ole Miss up 9 spots for beating a team that doesn't have a win against a power 4 team that has a winning record.

Lucas - who would you put above Ole Miss and why? Part of why they jumped is all the people who lost (Penn State at home after looking awful for 3Qs, UGA at home to BAMA, Florida State to UVA).

Vandy and mizzou both have just asked good if not better teams that they have beat and how good they have looked
Ole miss almost lost at home to arkansas who just lost to notre dame by 30 soo.
Perhaps it will all sort out after next week's games.
This year has been a little crazy, with significant movement due to all the losses across the top 25. The polls are also always impacted by "friction" (or inertia), in that they tend to leave teams where they are, even in the face of new information. So, LSU was ranked high because they beat Clemson, who at the time was believed to be really good. So, it seemed that LSU was really good. After multiple losses, we now know Clemson has major issues. But, until they lost to Ole Miss, it was just assumed that LSU was still really good because they beat Clemson and hadn't lost yet.
Also, I think the current state of college football, with increased player movement, increases the difficulty of ranking teams, especially before the season, and the bias that comes from the preseason rankings carries into the season for a while.

I think if we can get mateer back with only one loss we should at least make the 12 team playoff.
Also so far our recruiting class for the year after this next year so 2027 is ranked 2nd in the country. For 2026 it is smth like 12th
New news mateer might be back for texas but still unlikely.
