LOOOOOVE those kitty pics...how 'bout some dogs?

Very refreshing and restoring to see the pinup kitties and read what everyone has been up to. I added comments in a couple of appropriate places (like Anwyl's e-mail, anwyl@gtcinternet.com, to be invited to blog--now you don't have to read the comment, Roy!) Much more entertaining than the rest of my day, which mostly consisted of avoiding writing an article I have to write. It's AMAZING how urgently the dishes have to be done when you're past your deadline. Plus the people next door were getting a new roof today so there were gales of hammering and dust fronts moving through our yard. Just the thing to encourage concentration! (NOT).

Just tried to look up "galerkin" and the online dictionary choked -- Evan you will have to enlighten us.

The online magazine I co-publish with 4 other people (http://www.stretcher.org)is part of a September show of artist collectives at an SF gallery, with the opening coming up on the 10th. And just how does an online magazine show in a gallery? (Glad you asked.) We're making a kind of stage set with chairs and a little table for an interviewer, interviewee(s) and a little decor, in front of a "green screen" -- a chunk of wall painted with this color that allows you to seamlessly meld digital images with the "real" action on the platform. We've scheduled a bunch of interviews with different people like the president of the San Francisco Art Institute and (I kid you not) an artists' marching band. The interviewees pick the digital background they want, and when their interview appears on the Web you'll see them in the "mediated" context of their choice. The set is sort of integrated into a network diagram that I'm creating -- as if the set is just a node of the network popping into the room. That's the theory, anyway -- we'll see how it works out.
