On Posting Photos

If you try to upload a photo to the blog on the Blogger post page using the little image icon, you will no doubt find that Blogger doesn't provide photo hosting. You can certainly put photos in your posts, but you have to find somewhere on the internet for the photo file to live—Blogger won't do that for you. Fortunately, there are several fairly straightforward ways to get this done. Blogger even suggests a couple.

Hello BloggerBot
If you are running Windows, then the Hello BloggerBot is one possibility. This is what Tanya has been using. Hello is an instant messaging-like program. The BloggerBot is like one of your IM buddies, but it posts your pictures to your Blogger blog. If you set up Hello, you can begin posting pictures to the blog by selecting the BloggerBot in your buddies list and clicking an icon to send pictures. The first time, you will have to log into Blogger and choose your blog. After that, you select photos from your disk, give them captions, and send them to the blog.

Flickr
If you don't have Windows—or if you do but don't like Hello—Flickr may be the best alternative. Flickr is like a blog for photos. You set up an account and then upload photos through their web interface or other available tools. You can even set up an e-mail address to send your photos to, and they end up at your Flickr account. Flickr plays nicely with blogs, too. You can configure it to post your photos to the blog, and you can even set up a second e-mail address that will post them for you. This may be the easiest way to go. Flickr is what I have been using (because our home computer is a Mac), though I haven't tried the e-mail features yet.
