The band Anwyl has played with for 27 years, a trio called the Mud Dogs, got together today to play for a 50th birthday party for a friend of the band. They sounded great and I had super fun dancing...the yellow shirts say "Mud Dogs."
The party was in a funky SF waterfront studio -- look out the window and you see this. the cruise ship is in drydock for repairs. The guitar player, Mark Holzinger, had put out his collection of Mud Dog posters -- many of them designed by Anwyl -- commemorating gigs where they opened for, among others, Chris Isaak, Los Lobos, The Blasters, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
After two sets and birthday cake, a couple of other musician friends sat in on conga drums and electric guitar.
We got home late and I have to rush through my class prep for tomorrow but it was worth it!

I had a similar Sunday experience. We were playing poker with some friends yesterday afternoon and then rushed home so that Sylvain could prepare his classes for today. By the way, Ev, my beet cake was a success! (I think it's going to become my new favorite chocolate cake recipe.)
Your parties sound much funner than Naropa students' parties.
