Hunting Lessons

The dogs have not been the least bit interested in the field mice in the back yard. So we thought we might be able to teach them to chase the mice if we played with them with a toy mouse. So we looked at Walmart today and actually found a battery-operated mouse that goes forward, backwards, and around in circles. It changes directions when it hits something. Well, it scared Lady and she won't have anything to do with it. But Goo really got into it ... to the point of catching the mouse and carrying it off to the grass. Hopefully next time he sees a real mouse in the yard, he'll go after it ...

There's an easy solution to this problem and it's called C - A - T...not that I would want anything to happen to upset such cute canines...

Or, don't feed the birds.

Birds are no problem. The C - A - T will get them, too.

No ... the birds knock their food on the ground and that is munched on by the mice. No bird feeding ... no food source ... no mice.

I understood; I was just being silly. We had a couple dead birds in our yard a few weeks ago, probably because of the neighborhood cat.

I haven't fed the birds since we went to Juneau, but the mice are hanging around anyway. Mike murdered one yesterday ...

The real mice probably run a lot faster than the toy!
