We saw bighorn sheep, mountain goats, bison, black-tailed deer, Roosevelt elk, and moose, today. Not to mention bears, wolves, coyotes, bobcats, lynx, and a mountain lion.
Yesterday, on the way to Discovery Park for a hike in our rain gear, the kids and I saw a billboard advertising Northwest Trek Wildlife Park. It was a bit of a trek, an hour and a half south, but we made the trip today and had a good time.
A 50-minute tram ride took us through their 435 acres to see all the big prey animals, and we got to see some of everything, including all three of their moose (one Alaskan, two from Idaho) and two black-tailed fawns. After that we walked through the predator section, which has large wooded enclosures in a setting more rugged than your average zoo. We were all getting hungry, so we didn't double back through the section with smaller creatures. We may go again sometime, with a better idea of what it's all about.
