Several months ago, we bought tickets for one of us to take Maëva to see the kids' musical Tchoupi fait danser l'alphabet at a theater in Marseille on Saturday evening. Sylvain had been planning to take her because he enjoyed taking her to see her first movie in February. Then the annual Banquet du Cercle with bouillabaisse fare was scheduled for the afternoon of the same day so in the end I got the fun parental job of going to the show. I was able to eat the fish soup and then the fish course (the best part of the meal anyway) before ducking out at 3:45pm to go pick up Maëva (Célia and Estelle were at the house babysitting the girls) and head down to Marseille. Maëva seemed to enjoy the show. Unfortunately, we spent an hour stuck in excruciatingly slow-moving traffic on the way home. By the time we got to McDonald's for dinner, Maëva was starving. But she ate very well!
Yesterday was the annual recampado picnic. The village square is still under construction as part of the new Cercle project, so this year the picnic was moved to an olive grove in the grand vallon. It's a great place to picnic, but unfortunately, the weather was bad. It was overcast and a bit chilly. Then it started to sprinkle. Marie-Elisabeth and David left with the girls and reportedly got back to the car just before it started to really rain. Sylvain and I stayed a little longer and were properly soaked from the drizzle before we got home about 3pm. On sight, Maëva had complained about being cold. However, last night and this morning, she mentioned several times how much she enjoyed the picnic. There were tables and chairs set up, but Maëva sat on a blanket with some of her friends. She really likes sitting on a blanket on the ground to eat! She is excited to put a picture of her at the picnic in her school scrapbook.
