A few days ago, Maëva said to me, "Mommy, I love you like a flower loves its stem." How very cute, I thought. And how wonderful that my not quite four-year-old daughter is already getting a handle on proper use of metaphor! A few days later, she said it to her dad in French, "Papa, je t'aime comme une fleur aime sa tige." Well, okay, I thought. I was willing to share the compliment with my husband. Monday afternoon, Alain took Maëva and Gabrielle (already on Spring break and visiting from Paris for the week) to the park in Roquevaire. Yesterday evening, I got a text message from Caroline reporting something cute Maëva had said to her dad: "Tonton, je t'aime comme une fleur aime sa tige." Apparently, she's making the rounds of the family, charming everyone with her super cute saying.
