Maëva had been looking forward to taking the bus to school in sixth grade for a long time, probably all last year. Yesterday, the day finally came. Her first day of classes. I waited with her at the bus stop. The bus was to come at 8:34. At 8:45, there was still no sign of the bus for a 9am school start time. I headed up the hill to get the car. Maëva was to get on the bus if it came in the meantime. It didn't. I picked her up at the bus stop at 8:51, drove to the next stop to pick up Magda and Stella, and drove them down to school with five minutes to spare. On the way back up, I passed the bus going down. It was 9:01. Maëva later told me the kids on the bus had arrived ten minutes late and that the bus had been late because it had broken down.

Bus Woes
This morning, we left the house at 7:30 so Maëva could catch the 7:41 bus. We arrived at the stop about 7:35. The bus rolled in at 7:36! Magda hadn't arrived yet. Maëva was worried about her. I told Maëva to get on the bus and that I would call Magda's mom. They were just a minute away. Claire currently has a foot injury and doesn't walk so fast, so I got Ellie Bluebell, picked up Magda from the empty bus stop and dropped her off at school. It didn't take long, but Maëva still beat us. It only took the bus ten minutes to get there.
Tomorrow, we'll try to get Maëva to the bus stop at 7:30, just in case.

The bus driver needs a new watch!
This sounds a lot like Rachel's bus experience in sixth grade.
Driver shouldn't leave a stop before the advertised time, unless they know that all the kids have shown up. Even then, why leave early? It just pushes the problem down the road another stop.
