Tuesday morning I walked with Rachel down to the bus at SPU, after delivering the boys to school on the bike. Eric had an excuse for not wanting to walk. The cats had been playing in his room last night when he was supposed to be going to sleep. Rachel and I hurried, but we still couldn't quite make the eight o'clock bus, so I left her there to catch the eight fifteen and went on to work.
She came with Nicole to pick me up at the end of the day. Nicole had gone to Hamilton to make sure Lydia ended up in the right place. She had been planning to go to the soccer tryout (apparently last week was just practices), but the ultimate frisbee tryout was also today, and Lydia needed to do that instead. We don't expect she'll be able to do both sports, but she needs at least one for the P.E. waiver.
Lydia told me this evening that her band teacher is looking for an oboe for her. I guess the instrument switch is decided. That will be interesting.
Lydia's tryout was supposed to go until six, but we needed to pick up the boys at five, so Nicole, Rachel, and I were driving home from my office. But we followed Nicole's hunch and it led us astray. There was a disabled vehicle on the Ballard Bridge slowing traffic to a crawl. It took close to half an hour to make it two blocks.
Nicole went immediately back to get Lydia after dropping us off at home. I cooked egg noodles to go with her "Italian stew". The tryout ran long, but they made it back around 6:45. After dinner, Lydia and I went to Coe to throw the frisbee until darkness approached. Just two days from the equinox, I suppose I'm lamenting the end of the lighter half of the year, at least a little. It will be nice to have a little rain now and then, one of these days, though.
