Squirrel watching

Sunday morning we went for a very short "hike" at Discovery Park before returning home to watch the basketball game. Although there's been no rain, the paths were muddy from a spring and the pond seemed higher than ever, though the vegetation had been cut back all around it, so it may also have looked weird. I don't know what the connection between sewage treatment and all that water is, but I don't know where else it could come from. The Wolf Tree trail had been given some attention, with mulch on the path and the boardwalks repaired.

Game 4 went how we expected, although it was a competitive game, and the finals are over. The basketball world cup starts soon, though, and many Storm players are participating, representing multiple nations.

Paola and family came over for dinner. They brought tamales.

Monday, I worked from home. I think maybe the cats are the reason I'm less inclined to go into the office on optional days. But they didn't come hang out in my office today. I got to interact with them at lunch, though.

This morning before work I found Rookie sitting at the front door. I picked him up so he could see out the window, then took him over to the corner of the living room. I saw a squirrel on the fence, and followed it to the back of the house. I set Rookie down on the window sill above the dining room buffet. He hadn't figured out where the squirrel went, though. He jumped on top of the cabinet and then stuck his head around to look out the top window on the side of the house. It has a little ledge.

Later, Nicole told me she found both Rookie and Lloyd up there, with Lloyd on the ledge of that window, evidently scared, not knowing how to turn around. She helped him down, then spent some time looking at various cat shelf systems on the internet.

This evening, Rachel and her friend worked on math together while Nicole attended the teacher's union meeting to vote on the new contract. I didn't hear how that turned out, but I think I'll find out tomorrow. Lydia told me a little about her music class, but her instrument remains undecided.
