Maëva's Sixth Grade Trip

Maëva arrived Friday evening from the week-long trip to Lou Riouclar Lodge organized by her school for all of the sixth graders. There were nearly two hundred kids on the trip. It's unclear how much she actually enjoyed it. She hasn't said much and hasn't been enthusiastic about the experience. She did enjoy some things, though. She said the planetarium visit was her favorite of the activities. They also visited a wood-working shop and she brought back wooden engraved bracelets for herself and her sister.

Lucky for us, Magda's mom, Claire, is a history teacher at the Collège and her colleagues sent her some shots of the girls that she forwarded on to me. It was nice to know someone with an inside connection as the photos the teachers posted to the school website were mostly far away group shots.

In this last shot, the girls are all dressed up for the dance on the last night. Yesterday, Maëva demonstrated some of the teachers' crazy dance moves for me. She also complained about one of her teachers making her waltz when she was tired and about to sit down at nearly 10pm. She doesn't look too unhappy in the photo, though.
