Today I learned that it will take a long time to get our car repaired. The first place I called said they could inspect the damages on April 27. I called four more after getting additional contacts from USAA, and the earliest was two weeks from now. For the inspection. Repairs would still be in April. Nicole may have found a place that will do the inspection earlier, using photographs.
In case you missed it, the Pathfinder suffered significant front bumper and grille damage in a collision on the way to ski lessons Sunday morning. A state patrol car was stopped in my lane, and when I tried to brake the car first skidded then spun out into the neighboring lane, where it met another unfortunate vehicle. Fortunately, no persons were harmed, just their belongings.
I went to the Space Needle to pick up a rental car this morning, but not until Nicole, Rachel, and Lydia had all gone to school by bus. I ended up driving to Hamilton to get Nicole so she could have the rental for after school. She dropped me off at home and picked up Rachel's shoes. Rachel had her first lacrosse practice today, but discovered after arriving at school that they didn't have a field to practice on, and thought they'd be running around Green Lake instead, for which her cleats were not appropriate. But in the end they did something in between, and she got to try out her lacrosse stick.
Lydia had her first spring ultimate practice after school, too. This is weirder, because middle school winter sports haven't ended yet. After some shuffling, Lydia is on a team that will practice on Mondays and Fridays, but she still has a few more Friday basketball practices, so she's going to practice with a different ultimate team on Thursdays in the meantime.
Colin finished his book quilt at school today, having finished a historical fiction called Al Capone Does My Shirts yesterday. He also presented his book report poster on Galileo.
All I got from Eric is that he had art today, painting wet on wet. Some people are predicting a snow day tomorrow. The forecast high is 42, but there may be snow overnight. But Eric does not have his school-issued iPad at home, for some reason. We may be in for an interesting day.
Today's word is gueux, beggar. It has but one syllable, the first u serving to make the g hard.

Our Bolt has been in the shop since early December. Most of this has been just waiting for parts. They thought they were done back in January, but as a final step they were aligning the front end, and found that one of the control arms (part of the steering mechanism) had been damaged in a way that wasn't obvious, but that prevented one side from aligning properly. So no problem, get a new control arm and install it. Oops, problem. Bolt control arms are on nationwide back-order. For a while, they'd call every week on Friday and say, "still waiting." Last week they called and said they'd received a date of March 9 for release of the part, and they should get it a couple of days afterward.
I hope once they get to actually fixing your car, that the Nissan parts are more available.
I had missed the car incident! Happy no one was hurt.
The USAA agent mentioned that repairs were slowed down by supply chain issues. I didn't immediately see why that should also slow down the estimates, but maybe they've reduced staff because of supply issues, and just don't have the capacity.
The place Nicole found may be able to due the estimate using the photos I sent them this morning, and get back to us this week, which will be helpful.
I wonder if the u-after-g construction is always (or usually) the hard g? This is a new rule to me.
Yes, general rule. G is pronounced like the first one in garage (hard) before a, o, u, but like the second one in garage (soft) before e and i. To get a hard g before e or i, add a u, like in guide or fatigue. (Above assumes you say garage without a d sound before the second g.)
