Funny/Unusual Sayings

Jennifer and I spent a lot of time being lost in Houston on Friday and got rather slap happy so we started discussing funny/unusual sayings and decided if you live where you are from, the sayings don't seem funny or unusual. So we decided since we'd both been to Juneau, we'd think of some sayings that we thought were funny. Our top three picks: "Down South", "Out the Road", and "It's hot" (I guess it does get a little warm, but compared to south Texas we thought it was funny). One thing I've had a hard time reconditioning myself to from Colorado - Furnace vs. Heater - I think they are the same pieces of equipment, but we don't use the Heater much down here, so I guess it can't be classified as a Furnace. Also, we have Northers - weather coming in from the north - and I never really figured out what they called them but when I said "Norther" they looked at me like I was crazy. Probably the two most southern "words" I use regularly are "y'all" and "fixin" so I guess those do qualify as funny/unusual even though they feel right when I say them.

But we did accomplish getting the first wedding dress fitting and let me tell you - she is going to be gorgeous and stunning on her special day. And we had a really good birthday/Easter lunch for Jennifer on Saturday (thanks to mom's cooking) and we went to the Sunrise service at Presidio La Bahia but it was very cold (oh you Alaskans probably think that was just a very hillarious statement) and windy. Then we came home and had breakfast and the kids made Mom's weekend by enjoying the Easter Egg hunt she put on for them. And then, Janice and Sweet Pea took a long nap while the kids and grandpuppies were busy driving back to OK. Was a great weekend, but too short, as usual.

Next weekend it's back to Houston to find a dress for the Mother of the Bride - who really doesn't like to shop and hates to try on clothes, but I'm sure I'll be on my very best behavior and hopefully I'll come home after having a very successful shopping trip. Everything else is going great for the wedding and we are looking forward to welcoming everyone to Goliad.
