In other news...

Jean Ann and Jim Alter are in Aix visiting friends of theirs so I'm going to be having lunch with them tomorrow and picking up birthday gifts Mom sent over with them. It'll be nice to hang out with some Americans for a little while!

I'm currently reading Dan Brown's "Angels and Demons". I had been told it was the sequel to "The DaVinci Code" but when I started reading it I figured out the story actually happens before. So I thought it was a prequel. But no. Looking at the copyright dates it turns out that "Angels and Demons" was published first and "The DaVinci Code" is it's sequel. The two books are a lot alike. Same sort of structure and plot ideas and twists. But very entertaining as thrillers. I read it to relax when I feel like I need to give my brain a rest. And since I just spent two days attending a conference on American Activism at the university, my brain really needs a rest now! I recommend these two novels to anybody in a similar predicament.

Happy Palm Sunday.

At Costco today I bought a copy of "French Women Don't Get Fat (The Secret of Eating for Pleasure)" by Mireille Guiliano. I'd seen it around but decided to splurge and not wait until I could get it at the used book store, since it's my birthday. I'll let you know what I think after I read it. I kind of flipped through it and noticed there are actually recipes in it.

Lunch yesterday with the Alters was nice. They took some photos of me to give to you, Mom. The birthday presents are waiting with the others to be opened Friday morning. I took one bag of the Reeses miniatures to the school to share with my students. They love them! And I also took the Easter Bunny to the school for decoration since I don't have much in the way of Easter decorations. The other bag of chocolates, the Cadbury cream eggs and the Chili powder, I'll keep for myself! Thanks.
