Stockings?

Christmas morning, we had three stockings for four people. Andrew had not been entered in the stocking exchange, so we actually had 5 people in the house, but only four stocking participants. Mike opened his and, correctly, guessed that it had come from out west. I deduced mine had come from Pittsburgh, probably from Roy. This was fairly easy (the Pittsburgh part, at least) because it included bananagrams and a Google Pittsburgh long sleeve t-shirt. For some reason, I don't remember mom opening her stocking, but I'm sure she did. And, I think she thought hers came from Hampton St as well.

However, Jenn was SOL. No stocking had arrived for her. Later that day, Tanya informed us that her stocking had yet to arrive as well. We sent Tanya a box a couple days after the assignments went out, I think on December 10th, thinking that it would take about 10 total days, possibly a few more. Tanya, I believe, sent one back for Jenn not long after. However, Tanya wasn't confident it would arrive on time because of the lack of urgency of the French postal workers.

Jenn's stocking has still not arrived. On New Year's Eve, we returned from Marcus' early (I didn't feel good and Andrew was having trouble winding down amongst the commotion, although he was out in about 3 minutes after getting in the car) and found a package by the front door. I assumed it was from France until I saw the postage ($12.**) on it and realized it hadn't come from France. I quickly went through the possibilities and guessed it was from Johnny, which Jenn confirmed when see saw the postmark from Juneau, AK.

The last I heard, Tanya was still waiting for her box as well. Initially, we were flabbergasted by the lack of prompt delivery of the packages. Then, we realized people were spending days (to almost a week) at airports over the holidays because flights have been grounded due to crappy weather. So, we're hoping the packages are just stuck in transit, delayed - like so many people - by the winter weather.

But, in the end, it just spreads things out a little bit. Jenn is anxiously awaiting her box from Tanya and, hopefully, Tanya will enjoy the contents of her box upon arrival. Maybe they'll come this week and we can have another holiday webcam session next weekend!
