St Eloi 2016 (6)

Friday, September 2. Sylvain and I participated in the Lascours Olympics on Team USA/Canada with our friends Frédérique and Vincent. Frédérique is from Quebec. It started out with the delegations marching in an opening ceremony (29 teams in all) which ended with the torch lighting. As we had neither a large USA flag nor a large Canadian flag, we marched with the Alaska and Quebec flags!

The first round of competition was the 4x100 pastis relay. Each runner had to first drink a glass of pastis before a roughly 100 meter sprint around the Entrepôt. As planned, we didn't qualify for the next round. Sylvain couldn't run very fast due to his shoulder situation. However, we were happy to participate. The opening ceremony was quite festive! A marching band from Dunkerque led the way. We felt that we were the best looking team. And we definitely had the classiest cheerleaders! At the end of the evening, they played the torch relay video that we filmed footage of Sylvain for in DC.
