Let's play, Hopscotch! - 1.2.1

Up at 3:45, shower, ready for 4:30 shuttle. Shuttle leaves on time - almost full. Well ... almost. Stop to accommodate a guy who couldn't make it on time. Leave again ... almost. Younger lady in a hat. Annoying attitude. Finally leave.

Stop at Terminal A. Get off shuttle. Lady in hat gets off, heads toward entrance, then doubles back muttering about whether or not she's in the right place. We continue in and deal with our business.

Short line at security. Rude TSA lady. I always put my shoes, liquids/gels, and phone (sometimes my belt, too) in one bin and my laptop in another. The TSA worker removed my shoes from a bin and took the bin away. Actually, both of my bins were taken, so I had to get another one for my laptop. And, in the confusion, I ended up putting a bunch of stuff in my bag (phone, belt), and I forgot to pull out my liquids/gels. Apparently, they didn't see them go through, or didn't care. They are less than 3.4 oz, but they should have been out ... I thought.

Snagged some snacks for breakfast. This is when Hopscotch woke up, jumped out of my bag, and tried to commandeer my food. Apparently, he has a thing for chocolate chips and sparkling grapefruit drinks. Fair enough.

We're a little early for the flight, but better early than missing it.

I've seen a few of Hopscotch's wild relatives here.

Do you have TSA Pre check? Sounds like you travel enough it'd be worth the fee. Only thing I find is that the rules vary by airport - which can take longer to figure out than just taking everything off & out to start with.

I signed up for TSA Pre when it first came out and got it free about 3/4 of the time. I was never able to figure out the rhyme or reason but I wasn't complaining. But I think that is a thing of the past. I started on the Global Pre or whatever it is called process, that includes TSA Precheck -- and have an appointment for an interview in December. So...it could take awhile.

I'm not. I don't find the security process onerous, usually. Today was an exception ... crazy agent.

Sounds like you have a good zen attitude.

I read yesterday that the TSA is considering requiring passengers to take all paper and food out of their carry-ons. Not happening everywhere now, but it seems they have tested it at some airports -- I'll bet those passengers had a wait. I'm getting better at packing the stuff that has to come out on top, but if you don't know in advance what that is...bummer.

Here's the article I saw about it -- it's been updated since I read it, apparently they've backed off inspecting everyone's books: https://hyperallergic.com/387412/aclu-and-academics-concerned-over-tsa-proposal-to-inspect-travelers-books/
