Evan and Julie: Day 6

Wednesday, June 5th. No school. Sylvain and Evan went out to run at 9. Evan threatened to come back sweaty and give Laureva Ughawug bug hugs! After the run, Sylvain offered to make Evan one of his traditional post-run smoothies. He got out his smoothie mixer, put in the ingredients and set it to vacuum  blend. However, once it was blended, he couldn't get the lid off. We both tried, then put the whole blade and cup set in the fridge to wait for Evan to get out of the shower. But Evan couldn't get it unscrewed either! This was a major source of frustration for all. Both Sylvain and Evan tried throughout the day to get the top off the blender cup, but to no avail. No smoothies were had by anyone and it remains unopened in our refrigerator waiting for someone to figure out a solution!
Maëva left for chess at 10. Laureva left with Marie-Elisabeth to try on shoes. EJT set out about 11. We tried to pick up Maëva's French passport at the Mairie in Auriol, but the computer connection was down so they wouldn't give it to me. More success at the pharmacy in Roquevaire for compression socks for Julie for flying home Saturday. Then a bakery stop to pick out three pizzas for lunch. EJ like the French pizza which is lighter and less greasy than American pizza. Post lunch impromptu cherry pit spitting contest. Evan won. EJTML set out at 2pm for more shopping. Evan found some gift soap in Aubagne. Then we dropped the girls off at drama before hitting more stores. We eventually found everything we needed from gifts to groceries at Auchan. Back home, Evan made margaritas and enchiladas for dinner. Yummy! Thanks, Ev! For dessert, we had watermelon and ice cream (coconut, chocolate and/or lime). Tasty! Between dinner and dessert, Maëva read everyone a French Paw Patrol story to give the enchiladas time to settle. After dessert, time for the final installment of Julie's Fifi story. Fifi, Gigi and Rufus set a trap for Suzanne the cat burglar who had been trying to frame Fifi. Phew! EJ started packing. We talked about some fun things we might do in Utah this summer. Started uploading photos from Evan's camera.
At one point downstairs in the office, we noticed that a microbead stuffed zebra hippo that I have had gotten stuck in the green leather armchair. We rescued it successfully. That prompted me to show Evan how my orange microbead flight pillow he had gifted me a few years back had been eaten by the same chair while I was breastfeeding one of the girls and had gotten completely stuck inside. He suggested we try to get it out. Several years ago, when this originally happened, I had made several attempts to get the pillow out of the chair, but to no avail. It seemed to be caught on something, but even putting my hand back in the chair, I could never figure out what. Anyway, Evan pulled and pulled and got about 4/5 of the pillow out. Then we discovered a rip and microbeads started spilling out everywhere. At this point, the decision was made to amputate. I got scissors and cut across the pillow. Then, as I was vacuuming up the microbead snow, the vacuum sucked up the remaining part of the pillow cover! Well, we thought, at least it's not stuck in the chair anymore! I thought I should probably take the fabric out of the vacuum. Maybe not the best idea after all, when I opened it up, microbeads went all over. Still have a bit of cleaning up to do as a result. Oh well. We've decided to consider this one a win as we DID manage to remove the pillow from the chair.

Are E and J going somewhere else before they fly home on Saturday, or are they just very eager packers?

I'm intrigued by the parenthetical references to untold stories. I would totally steal that as a commitment device for writing posts, but I'm afraid it wouldn't be enough.

Yes, to Paris.
You should give it a try at least!

Missing stories added.

Those are both good stories.

Does Evan appreciate microbeads as much as glitter?

Microbeads are easier to vacuum up.
