NBT Smarts = Space Smarts!

Former astronaut Scott Kelly has an article in the NY Times today titled, "I Spent a Year in Space and I Have Tips on Isolation to Share." Posting here to note tip #5, "Keep a Journal." He writes, "NASA has been studying the effects of isolation on humans for decades, and one surprising finding they have made is the value of keeping a journal. Throughout my yearlong mission, I took the time to write about my experiences almost every day. If you find yourself just chronicling the days’ events (which, under the circumstances, might get repetitive) instead try describing what you are experiencing through your five senses or write about memories. Even if you don’t wind up writing a book based on your journal like I did, writing about your days will help put your experiences in perspective and let you look back later on what this unique time in history has meant."

So, taking a swing at this unique day on Buckeye Avenue...discovered this a.m. that my Saturday morning dance spot Rhythm and Motion has posted a couple of dance classes online (maybe Rachel or others would get a kick out of the online class?), I didn't actually take one because I only thought to look just before Zoom coffee with the two friends I usually meet at R&M.  One of us is retired, one of us is on Spring Break (me) and another is a high level editorial manager at the SF Chronicle. Guess who was staggering from stress! Immersion in the news cycle, even if you are making it, is a hard place to be right now. In the afternoon, Anwyl and I slogged through a review of our estate documents, which we are now highly motivated to complete. That was challenging and required recovering with a long nap.  Zoom "cocktail hour" with my collaborator Dawn, who just returned from India (her conference was canceled while she was en route, but she went anyway and had a great time.) Playing with Hoots and posting while Anwyl makes soup for dinner. Oh, and we planted a volunteer peach tree from the compost in a pot, inspired by its brave predecessor that actually gave us peaches last year. That's about it...have been enjoying everyone else's posts. Thank you!

Yes, I think we've all got tip 5 down. Any others of interest?
