Thursday, I was feeling relatively good. I had a bit of headache pain, but it was minor, and I was able to take Maëva to her doctor's appointment and then go shopping for Sylvain's birthday present. So I figured I'd be able to go to Lyon to teach on Friday. But then throbbing headache pain came back in the evening and wouldn't go away. I slept poorly. When I got up at 5:30 to get ready to go, my head was still throbbing. I took some pain meds and waited for them to kick in as I stumbled through getting ready. They didn't. I gave up and sent an email to my colleagues saying I wouldn't be able to make it. I went back to bed. Once the hour got a bit more reasonable, Marie-Elisabeth called my doctor for me. He wasn't around, but gave the number of a colleague. I phoned her at nine and she said I could come in right away. Marie-Elisabeth drove me as I was feeling nauseous and my head was still pounding (as I'm not Evan, I'll spare you the details of the results of my nausea). The new doctor gave me a new treatment with anti-inflammatory meds and stronger pain meds if needed. She also signed me off from work for yesterday and Monday. She said I may be feeling up to it by Monday, but that I shouldn't go in any case because it would be too much strain too soon. So I get to stay home and lay around all day on my birthday! And not feel guilty about it! At this point, I have taken 3 out of the 12 prescribed doses of anti-inflammatory meds and am already feeling the difference. May the trend continue.
